The new kitchen features a row of windows above the soapstone counter, an opened back stair with new craftsman railing, and a sunny eat-in area where a pantry originally blocked light and views to the garden. A decorative lattice window, concealed by cabinets, was exposed and featured on a wall otherwise devoted to storage. The resulting kitchen offers a superb work area, is bright with light from three sides, and is rich with colors and focal points. Paneling and details match those of the original house.
